Google Streetmaps

Google have built this really just for the voyeur in everyone... For me it has been really fun, checking out all the places I loved in San Francisco.

I just spotted this great sight outside the Westin on Taylor st.. Yeah ok, ignore Victoria Secret, just look up to the left... Yep, that is the Australian Flag!

Nice work Google!

Twitter...

Where have I been? I had herd about twitter but I must have somehow overlooked it...

I never knew how much of a voyeur I was!! It is very odd having a little update of the rest of the world slowly unfolding in a widget on the edge of my screen but I am totally hooked!

Not so sure about SMSing twitter though, maybe if they had an Australia number...

Now I just need to track down a few more friends, or at least people with interesting lives to follow...

Oh and if if you really want to follow me on twitter you can...

The internet is just so cool

Ok ok, I know that this is not new to most people but every now and then, i just have "wow" moments when something so totally cool happens...

Take today for example... Some friends and I are going to meet up for a few drinks and I was asked to find a bar to drink in. So I head to google maps to find where they are going to be. I then type in Bars near Parliament station just to see what it would do - and it returns a list of a few bars. click on a more link to see if they look ok.. this takes me to a great review of one of them.

So now I have found a bar, I copy and paste it into skype and select to SMS the details to a list of people. Bang, it is on their phones and I look like a rock star, drinks arranged in seconds!

Now i just hope the bar is actually ok...

GoDo New Zealand

Well after a few hard working months at work we have made it to another website launch. I know there will be a formal launch sometime soon but I wanted to shout about it a little bit earlier!

GoDo New Zealand has been consuming most nights and many long days for the last two months.

We took our existing one country infrastructure (from GoDo Australia) and spend a huge chunk of time modifying the core elements to handle multiple countries and such.

We could have gone down the easy route and just copied the db structure and the codebase but then there is the maintainability of the two apps etc... Anyway, that is what i have been doing these last few months and hence just a little bit quiet

Movember!

Ok so it is offical! I am attempting to grow a Mo for movember.

What is Movember? It is an attempt to raise awareness of men's health issues. Part of the answer is a lack of awareness about the very real health issues faced by males. The good old "she'll be right" attitude and a reluctance to see a doctor about an illness or for regular medical checks also contributes to the problem. Seems like a good thing to raise awareness about to me.

If you want to sponsor my mo - head over to the movember website and drop em a few bucks.

egoSurf

wasting away a few more hours on the web, I have just stumbled across egoSurf and spent far too long playing with it. I only rack up 3542 ego points and only 1000 points from google directly.... :-(

It is a nice way to stroke your ego, that is if your site ranks well, otherwise it is a little depressing

(There must be some seirous programing behind that)

The Bit Bucket Blog

I found out this morning that there is another bit bucket blog out there. It is the blog of Greg Low one of the bloggers on Microsoft's Most Valuable Professionals and a MS Trainer to boot!

I guess I am not so surprised that someone else has a blog with the same name as mine (it is a rather geeky term) but I am just a little surprised that it took so long.
